Note:
Candidate having Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Management/Humanities or its Equivalent is eligible to apply for Ph.D. programme offered by the respective Department.
Master degree candidate, who has submitted the Dissertation/Thesis or appeared in final semester/final year examination, also eligible to apply.In case of the candidates whose qualifying degree results are not declared, they have to submit their final results by 15th September/15th February for admissions in Autumn/Spring semesters respectively. Further More, The candidate has to submit the proof of submission of the M. Tech Dissertation at the time of interview.
Such candidates are required to give an undertaking as prescribed in
Appendix – VI.
Application Fees
The
candidates applying for admission in Ph.D programme for Autumn semester of A.Y. 2023-24
will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 500/- (for Gen/OB/EWS) and
Rs. 250/- (for SC/ST/PWD) through the online payment portal of the institute.
Instructions to Applicants
- All applicants must apply online
- The portal is compatible to Mozilla Firefox. Candidates are advised to use Mozilla Firefox browser only.
- Applicants may apply for multiple programmes. Separate registration form and application fee is required for each programme.
- Using the
login credential, applicants must login to the Admission Portal for form
filling.
- Application Fees must be paid only by online payment portal from this site.
- After completion and submission of the online form, filled form in PDF format will be generated.
- On the day of
interview and or written test, the shortlisted candidates should bring a printed
copy of the on-line filled form along with
all the necessary documents in original and a set of duly self-attested photocopies of all such documents.
- The exact time and venue for PhD interview will be notified along with the list of the shortlisted candidates.
Important documents required for the Part-time External Candidates (PEC) Category
-
The candidate must enclose self-attested copies of the following documents/ certificates. Same must be produced in original at the time of physical documents verification.
- Appointment letter issued by the current employer.
- Experience certificate duly signed by competent authority on letter head of the Company/Organization/Institute.
- Salary certificates/slips of last 12 months.
- Income-Tax return or Form-16 of last financial year, and
- All other documents/ certificates as mentioned in the information brochure of PhD programme.
Note
- Sponsorship Certificate Should be from the same organization who has issued the Appointment letter, Experience certificate and Salary slip.
- Salary Slip, Experience Certificate of one year must be from same (single) organization.
Important Note
- Full-time Institute Research Scholars are recipients of the Institute scholarships
and are governed by the Scholarship rules.
- Full-time sponsored (FSC) candidates are recipients of complete financial
support including stipend, contingency grants and project expenses from the sponsoring organizations.
The sponsorship letter for full time sponsored (FSC)candidate should be strictly as given in
Appendix-I which is to be produced at
time of interview / test etc. They have to produce the reliving certificate at the time of Ph.D. registration as given in
Appendix-II.
- Part-time Institute Faculty/Staff, (PIS) Project Staff (PPF) are expected to work for their Ph.D. programme while fulfilling their normal duties.
- Part-time External candidates (PEC) are allowed to carry out their Research
work at the Institute or at their parent organization (subject to fulfillment of other requirements, rules and regulations laid down by the Institute Senate) after
fulfilling certain pre-requisites at the Institute. They are not entitled to the Institute scholarship. The external candidate should produce a relevant
sponsorship certificate strictly as per the format given in
Appendix-III
at the time of interview/written test/ presentation. They have to produce reliving certificate from their Organization at the time of Ph.D. registration, strictly as per
Appendix-IV
,while fulfilling their one semester compulsory stay in the Institute (SVNIT).
The Part-Time external candidates are required to spend minimum a one semester of the first year of the enrolment like the full-time research scholars of the Institute.
- Full-Time Self financed candidates (FSF) are expected to work full-time and are
subject to the rules of the Institute.
- Full-Time study Leave Candidates (FSL) is expected to work full time at the
Institute. They are not entitled to the Institute scholarship. Such candidates are
required to produce sponsorship/relieving certificate from their organizations and
submit it along with the application for admission. The format for relieving
certificate for FSL candidates is given in
Appendix-V.
- In case the FSF, PEC and FSL candidates are not able to submit the requisite
sponsorship certificates at the time of interview, a certificate in the prescribed
format as per
Appendix-VII ( APPENDIX VIII for candidates with Govt. of
Gujarat), is to be submitted at the time of interview. Without such certificate,
the candidates will not permitted for appearing test/interviews for the PhD
admission.
